3 December 2024
Robert Hooke Seminar Room

Speaker: Professor Susanne Schwenzer - The exploration of Mars - current rovers and future missions
The talk will focus on the most recent rover findings on Mars - with a focus on the Curiosity rover, where Prof. Schwenzer is on the science team. Curiosity is exploring the sulfate unit in Gale crater, and has most recently made some exciting finings (again!). Elsewhere on Mars, the Perseverance rover is exploring Jezero crater and preparing samples for return to Earth in the early 2030ies. Looking into the future, there is the planning of the analysis of returned samples - and of course the thinking of exploration of Mars with crewed missions. COMPLETED
